The child can interact with various objects, but is slow and needs to think creatively on how to get around, the man is more adventurous but can’t take damage and needs to think of ways to outsmart enemies, and the knight is a powerhouse that can clear a room of enemies without issue and has a few different means of exploration. Depending on the character you’re playing, you’ll have access to different actions. The differences between the characters make it unclear how the developers intend to bring this narrative together, but then they do it so seamlessly, almost without you even knowing.ĭuring gameplay, you’ll navigate a strange world. Players assume the role of a child, a man, and a knight, each with varying playstyles and personalities. What caught me off guard is how different each of the characters were in the beginning. Luckily, every moment of gameplay seems to provide a new piece of the puzzle, and you slowly begin to realize how this world became so bleak and haunting. With a game that takes about 5 hours to complete, the story is one of the more essential features of the adventure. Inmost doesn’t seem to want to wait for the player to introduce its three main protagonists. What’s most important about this adventure is how it immerses the player without the need for hours and hours of exposition. Regardless of the genre, there’s plenty of room for developers to immerse players in a new world, no matter how long the game’s runtime. If the player chooses to ignore Kel, the Hikikomori route begins, and the Sunny route becomes inaccessible. The game's route diverges from here depending on whether or not Sunny answers Kel. Sunny wakes up to Kel knocking on his door. Basil disappears, Sunny wakes up and eats something, overcomes fear of heights, visits otherworld, gets woken up. Here, his friends Aubrey, Kel, and Hero greet him and invite him to meet Mari and Basil at the playground. Omori walks through the white door into Neighbor's Room, the first room in Headspace. The player can explore White Space, but can only enter Headspace once Omori has his Knife. Afterwards, Omori is introduced in White Space. The game is divided into four main parts. The game is paced by a day and night system, taking place over the course of three days. OMORI follows Omori, the alter ego of Sunny, and his friends through a vast dream world on a quest to find their friend Basil, who has gone missing. In tandem with both the night and day segments, the player must find out what has happened to Sunny, his older sister, and his friends. Kel, one of his former friends, reached out to him and spends his last few days in Faraway Town with him.
